Kerala becomes irst state own internet service

Kerala has become the first state in the country to provide internet service. Kerala Fiber Optical Network (K-FON)  Limited has got the (ISP) Internet Service Provider’s license from the Department of Telecommunications.

Thiruvananthapuram,14 July Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has given this information by tweeting through Twitter that the Central Department of Telecommunications has given a license from ISP (Internet Service Provider) to K-FON (Kerala Fiber Optical Network Limited) agency of the Government of Kerala.

Kerala Fiber Optical Network Limited, an IT infrastructure project in the state of Kerala, has received the license certificate.

The Government of Kerala started this project in the year 2019, which Kerala is the first state in the country to declare the internet as a fundamental right.

The project has been taken up by k-FON ( Kerala Fiber Optical Network) Limited Agency of Kerala at the cost of Rs 1548 crore.

Who will benefit from the Internet

The families who come under the BPL category or who do not have money to buy internet, those families will be provided free internet service by the Kerala government, and in addition to this free internet,  facility will be provided in 30000 government offices of Kerala.

This scheme will also reduce the digital divide in society, as well as increase the department of management, transport, and information technology.
